Mission Statement

The New Mexico Quarter Horse Association (NMQHA) shall promote and encourage interest in the breeding, racing, showing, and any and all other general uses of the American Quarter Horse within the State of New Mexico as are supported by members of the Association.

News Flash !!! NMQHA cannot/will not allow any horses into their shows without current coggins due to the USDA ruling.  Horses may not be unloaded until proof of coggins has been produced.

Carolyn Bader Carolyn Bader was named as the "2008 Horse Person of the Year" by the New Mexico Horse Council at their annual meeting on January 17, 2009. Our own Blair Darnell presented Carolyn with a beautiful statue which was in honor of Carolyn’s 50 years of contributions to the state’s horse community. Carolyn has been active and is currently on the board of NMQHA. Congratulations Carolyn on receiving this well-deserved award.

Clarence E. "Casey" Darnell, Corrales, NM – Will be inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame at the annual convention in San Antonio the first week in March.

An AQHA life member, Casey Darnell was a born horseman. An AQHA judge for 21 years, Darnell was a roper, horse trainer and youth instructor. He became an AQHA Director in 1961 and served in that capacity for 21 years. In 1983, he was named an Honorary Vice President of AQHA. He served as president of the New Mexico Quarter Horse Association and was a board member of that organization.
